Abstract

The article describes an innovative method for evaluation of the athletes' neuromuscular system via a stabilometric exam with the Romberg test with eyes open and eyes closed as well as the modified Romberg test where the subject sways back and forth with their body straight and eyes closed. The European variant of the Romberg test was conducted. The evaluation of the traditional space-time and frequency stabilometric indicators does not indicate any differences in the levels of kinesthetic sensitivity among athletes with different athletic qualifications. The study offers a brief description of 6 stabilometric parameters which reflect the condition of the central and peripheral structures of the neuromuscular system. The comparative analysis of the new stabilometric indicators between two groups of athletes with different athletic qualifications showed a statistically significant difference in their levels of kinesthetic sensitivity and central nervous system functionality. The results of the stabilometric test confirm that the central and peripheral components (structures) of the neuromuscular system are developed to a much higher level among the athletes with higher athletic qualifications. The analysis of the test results presented in this article acts as a foundation for denoting the new stabilometric indicators developed in the "A healthy way of life and health protection" science lab.
