
This article is a brief outline of the two most important aspects in the philosophy of Giovanni Pico della Mirandola: a dialogic style as a new style of thinking, and a new religion which arose as a result of the transfer of humanistic dialogical combination of openness of truth and its unity, directly in the religious sphere. As a result of this transposition, the Christian belief of the Renaissance humanist has lost its dogmatic character and united with the recognition of the naturalness of religious and philosophical pluralism in which at the first time the contours of a future new European tolerance, in matters of reason and conscience, became noticeable. At the same time, we show how characteristic of the Renaissance were the two central ideas of Pico the idea of pluralism, in the end, of the unified truth or ‘reconciliation of philosophers’ ( pax philosophorum ), and the idea of ‘human dignity’ ( dignitas hominis ). Analyzing the correspondence between Pico della Mirandola and E. Barbaro in details, we use a non-trivial method: we make the paradoxical, at first glance, assumption that this correspondence was composed by only Pico as if it was a sort of a dialogue owned by Pico della Mirandola, his argument with himself, which expanded beyond its frame so, that Pico defended one of his positions against Barbaro, who took the responsibility for representing a different position of Pico himself. This expedient gives us an opportunity to see not only the essence of the philosophical concept of Pico della Mirandola but the essence of the whole era of the Quattrocento. Using this method we can identify the nature and structure of relationships between Pico della Mirandola and A. Poliziano, and other members of the Platonic Academy, on the one hand, and with Girolamo Savonarola, on the other. Without going into details of theology and anthropology of Pico, we nevertheless make a point that the interest of Pico in the "natural magic", hermetism and Kabbalah, his tendency to "negative theology" and to pantheism (but not completed), his deification of man, all those expanded far beyond of the medieval Catholicism and real-historic Christianity in general. But this very style of thinking allowed Pico to keep ardent faith ‘combining education and piety’.
