Abstract

The article deals with the geopolitical processes in the Greater Caucasus and the Caspian region. On the one hand, the system approach favours the view that the economy (oil and gas pipelines) and the policy are inextricably entwined with economic factors beginning to prevail in the strategy of the principal political actors. On the other hand, it testifies to the fragility of the foundation of the political cooperation and the constructive political dialogue, as well as to the difficulties in shaping a new architecture of the regional security.
