Abstract

In the periodical (Perm University Herald. Russian and Foreign Philology, 2011, 3) T.N.Fominykh presented the short story "The War of Birds" (1923) by Pavel Muratov (1881-1950). The text, based on the autograph, held by the Russian State Archive of Literature and Art from V.Ya.Iretsky's fund was announced by Prof. Fominykh as previously unpublished. It is said that "The War of Birds" in written form was published in the Russian émigré journal "Zhar Ptitsa" (The Firebird) (1923, №10) with a misprint in Muratov's initials, which made the publication unknown to bibliographers and scholars (for instance, it is not included in Muratov's bibliography by P. Deotto). Thus, the first publication allows to decipher illegible places and to identify the author's alteration.
