Abstract

We studied a levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), placenta growth factor (PlGF) and placental protein PP 13 in I and II trimesters of physiological pregnancy, placental insufficiency and fetal growth retardation. It was found a certain ratio of the absolute levels of the studied polypeptides at physiological pregnancy for each trimester. The highest levels of VEGF, PlGF and PP 13 was observed in the first trimester of physiological pregnancy. It was ascertained a statistically significant lower levels of VEGF and the PlGF in patients with placental insufficiency and lower levels of VEGF, EDF and PP 13 in pregnant women with fetal growth retardation. This indicates the PP 13 level have a high specificity for fetal growth retardation and it can be used to optimize approaches for prediction of obstetric complications.
