Abstract

Time of covering the shooting range in biathlon, along with time of passing the distance and shooting quality is one of three constituents of sports result. Despite significant contribution of this index to the sports result, the technique of shooting in covering this distance obstacle has been insufficiently highlighted in scientific and methodical literature. According to several experts, the duration of ready position before the first shot represents the major reserve for reducing the time of shooting range in covering the distance among the most of the athletes. Objective: systematization and classification of the process of ready position assuming for rest shooting in biathlon. Tasks: identification of existing ways of ready position taking assuming for rest shooting; determination of phase analysis for different variants of ready position assuming in rest shoots. Methods of studies: pedagogical observations; frame-by-frame speed photography shooting by “Nikon D5000” camera; methods of mathematical statistics. Studies were conducted at 2011 and 2012 World Biathlon Championships. The technique of ready position assuming for rest shooting by 67 athletes of different countries was analyzed. Results of studies are the following: three major ways of arrival at shooting lanes, six different variants of weapon removal and four lines of behavior while assuming ready position have been revealed. Conclusions: tentative classification of the ways of ready position assuming for rest shooting has been developed with account for modern development of biathlon. Phase analysis of all ways of ready position assuming for rest shooting has been suggested.
