Abstract

By analyzing the normative acts, included in the Complete Collection of Laws of the Russian Empire, was studied assimilation policies of the government of the Russian Empire, which was conducted in 1812-1855 years on the territory of Bessarabia. In the Bessarabian region (oblast') were introduced the bureaucratic apparatus and control system modeled on the interior provinces (hubernies) of the empire. The local elites got a chance to acquire the rights of the Russian nobility. Progressively was eliminated the national specifics of the region in the administrative sphere, restricted the use of the Moldovan language, etc. Lot of attention has been paid to the socio-economic transformation in the region. They should have made Bessarabia one of the sources of financing of the imperial treasury. For this purpose Bessarabia actively populated by immigrants from the neighboring countries and the interior provinces of the Russian Empire, government has promoted the development of trade and industry are here. All this provides to the state greater profits, primarily due to a variety of taxes. This makes the region a "cost-effective", which was important. For example, because contain the bureaucratic apparatus are here (as in other parts of the empire) is very expensive.
