Abstract

There were analysed 500 cases of using cerebrospinal anesthesia (CA) during surgical, urologic, traumatologic and gynecologic operations in the period 1998-2002. The distribution by the years is as follows: 1998 4, 1999 64, 2000 110, 2001 198, 2002 (7 months) 124. Duration of operations fluctuated from 20 minutes to 3 hours and on the average it was 96,4 ± 12,7 minutes. If the standards of preparation and application of anesthesia are observed, CA is a safe, economic method of anesthesia for operations of abdominal wall, organs of lower part of abdominal cavity and retroperitoneal space, of genitalia, perineum and lower extremities.
