Abstract

An original research project on the quality of life and family burden of parents of adult schizophrenia patients is presented. Clinical and psychological tests revealed the difficulties and challenges that arise in the life of parents due to mental disease of their adult children. An attempt was made to assess the quality of life of these parents and factors contributing to their overall quality of life. Clear distinctions were found between the patients mothers and fathers in terms of quality of life and degrees of family burden. A strong correlation was shown between the attitude to patients and their disease on the one hand, and parents satisfaction with various aspects of their life on the other.
