В статье автором рассматривается проблема внедрения и реализации либеральных идей в пенитенциарную систему Временного правительства России (март - октябрь 1917 г.). Выявляется как их положительное, так и отрицательное воздействие на дальнейшее функционирование уголовно-исполнительной системы в условиях государственного кризиса. Автор предлагает решение проблем, которые возникают при реализации гуманистических начал в уголовно-исполнительной системе на современном этапе развития России, через призму предшествующего исторического периода. На современном этапе развития уголовно-исполнительной системы Российской Федерации необходимо использовать опыт предшествующих исторических этапов для эффективной реализации положений Концепции развития уголовно-исполнительной системы Российской Федерации до 2020 г. В статье автор акцентирует свое внимание на мнении ведущих ученых в области уголовного права, уголовно-исполнительного права, криминологии, истории России. Исследование обладает высокой степенью научности и логичности.

The author considers the problem of the introduction and implementation of liberal ideas in the penitentiary system of the Provisional Government of Russia (March October 1917).
