Abstract

We have investigated 48 patients with the vertebral artery syndrome. Using Doppler ultrasonography there were investigated vertebral hemodynamics and cerebrovascular reactivity in cerebral arteries during rotation tests. Patients with the vertebral artery syndrome demonstrate asymmetry of blood velosity, increase of blood velocity in vertebral and basilar arteries and hyperreactivity on rotation tests. The trial demonstrated Trental safety in treatment of vertebral artery syndrome that was proved by Doppler ultrasonography. Vertebral Doppler ultrasonography with functional tests might be used as a method of differential diagnosis and control of treatment for the vertebral artery syndrome.
