Abstract

The paper researches the reasons determining the overwhelming popularity of Agatha Christie’s murder mysteries. A deeper look into the problem enables to delineate a number of cooperating factors: sociocultural, biographical, creative, etc. Among these the key factor that makes a major contribution to Christie’s success is a genre pattern of a classic mystery story that she introduced and impregnated with her brand original content.
