В статье раскрывается изменение социокультурного содержания экономической науки, противоречивость экономической науки, противоречивость эволюции предмета экономических исследований экономической безопасности объектов и процессов. Аргументируется положение о том, что накопление экономического знания ставит вопрос о возможностях и границах его применения. Приводится новая характеристика экономического империализма. Экономический империализм (как и любой империализм) сегодня обнаруживает, что его агрессия не есть панацея для устойчивого развития и экономики (в частности) и общества в целом. Особенно необходима оценка роли знаний об обеспечении экономической безопасности регионов России на основе осмысления состояния экономической науки и соотнесения экономического и социального. Автор подчеркивает, что речь идет о некой систематизации, сложившейся в работах по экономической безопасности, рецептуры по ее обеспечению вне концептуализации целей социально-экономического развития.
