Abstract

The paper raised a question of revising the notion “Prikamye” in the context of identification. The scientific impropriety of equating “Prikamye” with “Perm Krai” is provided evidence to. The term “Greater Prikamye” is introduced and distinguished from “Perm Prikamye”. The perception of the Prikamye region is viewed from the perspective of the principal of historism. The author formulates a hypothesis about the geographical boundaries of Greater Prikamye as: 1. the Kama basin; 2. five contemporary subjects of the Russian Federation; 3. territories, some parts which historically have been inclined to the former Perm governorate and Kazan governorate.
