Abstract

Mitral valve prolapse is very common pathology. Frequency of MVP increases with age. Most often it is detected at the age of 7-15 years. Frequency of MVP in the adult population 5-38%. Adult patients MVP syndrome more common in women (66-75%), with the peak at ages 35-40. The main method of diagnosis of mitral valve prolapse is the echocardiography study. Little flexure of mitral volve cusp, and even some degree of regurgitation can be considered as Anatomical Norm. Recently, however, it is proved that this is not a harmless disease.
