Abstract

Russian peasant mentality is considered as a phenomenon of the collective consciousness of a large social community. There are revealed the factors of Russian peasant mentality formation, its conditioning of system influence of agricultural labor, the historical features of formation of the state, territorial and geographical factors. There are highlighted its psychological characteristics: nature oriented consciousness, antinomy, value-meaning attitude to work, existential worldview, specific social duality (collectivism-individualism). The specificity of Russian peasant mentality and its influence on the formation of the foundations of the national mentality is substantiated.
