Abstract

We studied the influence of positive modulator of AMPA receptor IDRA-21 on the lipid peroxidation (LPO) intensity in various brain areas under activation of muscarinic acetylcholine (M1Ach) receptors. Specific index of LPO, (i.e. thiobarbituric acid reactive substances, TBARS), was determined spectrophotometrically. The administration of M1ACh receptor agonist McN-A-343 (200 µg) produced the significant elevation of TBARS content in the hippocampus and the striatum of rats. The administration of AMPA receptor modulator IDRA-21 at doses 12 and 24 mg/kg substantially diminished LPO intensity in the studied brain structures of rats treated with M1ACh receptor agonist.
