In this article on the material of ancient mythology and the Homeric epics was made an attempt to explicate the relationship of the concepts "hubris" and "charisma" in the context of the question of the price of the power charisma, and more widely in the context of the problem of the power as such. Since the myth generates various cultural scenarios of the acquisition and the loss of charisma, their analysis allows to discuss in a more detailed way the problem of the ambivalence of the power in the context of sacralization practices, by placing it in the horizon of the question of the anthropological sense of the acts of transgression and the experience of sovereignty, where death is the measure of the prestige spending.
