Abstract

The institutional prerequisites for the formation of a unified euro area financial system at the present stage of economic development of the European Union and the reasonably possible scenarios for future development based on existing trends have been described in the article. The role of the European Central Bank in the anti-crisis management has been highlighted. The conclusions are based on statistic data presented as of the period of 2000 – 2011.
