Abstract

This article analyzes specificity, basic directions and stages of «identity politics» transformation in post-Soviet Russia. According to the structural and functional view, the author identifies three levels of organization of «identity politics»: contextual, systemic (practical) and symbolic. The author offers a new periodization of transformation of this policy in the post-Soviet period. The first phase (1992-1994) is characterized by a systemic crisis of the nation-state identity and the lack of clear government priorities in this area. The second phase (1995-1999) can be described as fragmentary state attempts to build conventional foundations of Russian identity. In the third phase (2000-2008) there is implementation of conventionally and conciliatory strategy for integration of temporal and symbolic «memory spaces» of Russian society. The fourth stage (from 2009) is characterized by the intensification of the activities of the State in this area, attempts to develop institutional frameworks of «identity politics»
