Abstract

The article contains a brief description of the problem related to nuclear and radiation-hazardous facilities dismantling at the former coastal bases of Northern Fleet and the floating technical bases (FTB) of the nuclear icebreakers fleet located in the Kola Peninsula. The paper presents the methodology and main results of study of long-lived radionuclides accumulation in the reactor cores of “Lenin”, “Arctica” and “Sibir” nuclear icebreakers, of which the spent nuclear fuel (SNF) was reloaded into the FTB “Lepse” during the period from 1963 to 1981. Based on the study results, the assessment has been carried out of аи ßactivity of SNF in the “Lepse” storage facility at present period of time.
