Abstract

The technologies of base metals precipitation from solutions using sulfide reagents, hydrogen sulfide in particular, have been extensively used recently. A detailed study of the technology of biogenic hydrogen sulfide production from elemental sulfur using anaerobic thermophilic bacteria and base metal precipitation from solutions in the form of sulfides was carried out at “Irgiredmet” JSC. The technology was tested in a laboratory 1.5L bioreactor. Its average daily throughput for hydrogen sulfide was 0.7 grams per day. The mass of copper recovered from the solution varied from 1.22 to 1.39 grams per day.
