The article discusses a little-known historical events connected with the special role of the Church in an unprecedented rise in primary education in Russia in the "age of Great reforms”. On the basis of new sources the author tries to reconstruct the Ural aspects of the development of Church schools.

В статье рассматриваются малоизвестные исторические страницы, связанные с особой ролью церкви в небывалом подъёме начального образования в России в «эпоху Великих реформ». На основании новых источников автор пытается реконструировать уральские аспекты развития церковных школ.
