Abstract

The article summarizes results of using new method for treatment of portal hypertension Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Stent Shunt (TIPSS) in the two clinics: Russian State Medical University, Moscow and Bashkortostan State Medical University, Ufa. The study of 66 cases demonstrates the effectiveness of TIPSS for elimination and preventing of the reccuring bleeding, which occurring in case of oesophageal varices. It shows that using the stent-graft with special PTFE-coating reduces rate of shunt dysfunction due to stenosis or thrombosis.
