Abstract

The article shows that the place and the role of the African countries in the ever-integrating global economy is undergoing qualitative changes. Counties of the African continent are trying to participate on the basis of consolidated positions, which allows them to succeed on the international arena. Africa is gradually turning from an object of exploitation by the external players into the subject of the international politics and economic relations, producing and active impact upon their formation. At the same time, the load of unresolved problems in the economic, social and political spheres, combined with the general backwardness and high predisposition to conflict in the African societies conceals a dangerous explosive potential not only for the African continent itself, and may grow into the global challenges and threats in the XXI c.
