Abstract

The article deals with the variability of punctuation marks in an asyndetic complex sentence. A regularity in the use of punctuation variants is traced. It is caused, firstly, by the undifferentiated semantics of a sentence, determining the choice of a particular punctuation mark assigned by the punctuation rule to the dominant syntactic relation, and, secondly, by the nature of sense relations expressed in a sentence.
