Abstract

We examined 115 men (mean age 54,2±6,2 ys) with type 2 diabetes. The endothelial dysfunction was assessed using biochemical markers (VCAM-1, Р-selectin and Е-selectin) and doppler ultrasound of the brachial artery. To evaluate the severity of symptoms of diabetes mellitus was used the DSC questionnaire. The study revealed a close relationship between VCAM-1 level and biochemical parameters of lipid metabolism. The level of P-selectin was more influenced on the neurological symptoms of diabetes, as well as parameters of endothelium dependent vasodilatation of blood vessels. E-selectin was correlated with the severity of the diabetic symptoms.
