The article is devoted to the process of forming of German colonies in the Northwest Caucasus in the second half of the 19th century. Reasons for emigration of the Germans to the Kuban area are considered. The number of German inhabitants of the Kuban region and the Black Sea province is refl ected in the described period. The conditions of the emergence of German colonies on the government territories, leasehold areas and lands purchased by colonists are analysed on the basis of archival documents.

Статья посвящена процессу формирования немецких колоний на Северо-Западном Кавказе во второй половине XIX в. Рассмотрены причины переселения немцев на Кубань и отражена численность немецкого населения Кубанской области и Черноморской губернии в рамках описываемого периода. На основе архивных материалов исследованы условия возникновения немецких колоний на правительственных землях, на арендованных участках и на землях, приобретенных переселенцами в собственность.
