В статье раскрывается роль малых городов в экономическом пространстве региона, которая заключается в интеграции пространства городской и сельской России в транспортном, производственном и социально-инфраструктурном отношении. Малый город рассматривается как составная часть региона и фактор его социально-экономического развития. Автором обоснованы направления взаимодействия малого города с окружающей территорией и на этой основе предложены приоритеты их развития.

The article reveals the role of small towns in the economic space of the region, which lies in the integration of space urban and rural Russia in the transport, industrial and social infrastructure respect. The small town is considered as a part of the region and the factor of its socio-economic development. The author justified directions of interaction of the small town and the surrounding area and on that basis proposed to the priorities of their development.
