Abstract

In the article language as social phenomenon is analyzed. Aspects of historical development of interference of language and a society are considered. Development of language is defined by development of a society, its scientific, technical and common cultural achievements. Language acts as a sign system in which all achievements of culture and its development are expressed. The activity approach to the analysis of a parity of concepts «language» and «linguistic activity» has allowed drawing a conclusion that language acted and acts as means of linguistic activity.
