Abstract

M. A. Osorgin, while interpreting the events of Russian revolution 1917, considers it in the context of all known human history and laws of nature which man also obeys. Looking through events author focuses on timeless and superhuman regularities. So in the center of writer's attention are character's perception and interrelations with common way of things. In the system of characters we single out three story lines which correspond to three types of reality comprehension. The story lines are connected with the images of philosopher Astafiev (logical comprehension of reality), musician Eduard Lvovich (creative comprehension) and young girl Tanusha (intuitive comprehension). Within the bounds of his conception of comprehension of reality the writer bears the palm to the third type which becomes Osorgin's symbol of hope for the rebirth of Russia.
