Abstract

It is known that perish churches dominated over the general architecture of the landscape in the local areas of Biysk. It was a perish church that was the general object where the observance, i.e. the religious people, came to. All perish churches in Biysk were symbols of the historical districts of the city. In the paper for the first time in big details, on the basis of numerous archival documentary sources the history of the Cossack Cathedral of the city of Biysk is studied. It is one of the first stone buildings of Biysk, previously used as a fortress. The author discusses the importance of Churches in the history of Biysk. An important place is given to the restoration of the forgotten names of the members of the Church clergy of the Cathedral. The author mentions the names of many of the priests and other workers of the Cathedral, kept in archival documents and writes about some facts of their biographies.
