Abstract

Given that motivational impairment is a core feature of schizophrenia with significant functional implications, psychological interventions should therefore consider incorporating techniques to stimulate motivational abilities in patients with schizophrenia. This paper aims to describe a motivational group intervention, to be administered as an add-on module to supplement ongoing mental health treatment. Theoretical rationale and administration, as well as treatment strategy to address motivation to engage in psychosocial rehabilitation with its underlying factors are presented.
