Abstract

Three groups of conceptions of virtual reality (VR) are distinguished in the article: those which associate VR with the past notions (virtual particles), those connected with the present (the Internet) and, finally, with the future (VR as computer created reality taken for true reality). A general theory will only preserve indeterminate ideas of VR. The latter conception representing VR as the nearest and final goal of mankind gives a good prospect for further studies.
