Abstract

The authors investigated the individual and combined action of solution of selenium and aluminium salts on sprouts of different barley varieties. The germinative energy, the mitotic index and the frequency of chromosomal aberrations were determined. It was shown that studied metals have a toxic effect on barley sprouts; however the selenium ions can neutralize the toxic action of aluminium ions.
