Abstract

This article provides a system analysis of the scientific works of a known Kazan literary critic of the 20th century, Konkordia Aleksandrovna Nazaretskaya, which are dedicated to the study of the poetics of Russian literature of the second half of the 18th century. The paper reveals the specificity of the position of the representative of the Kazan school of literary criticism in academic discussions on the problems of the genesis, evolution and transformation of Russian sentimentalism in its interaction with the major philosophical and aesthetic trends of that time. Nazaretskaya’s methodological approach is considered innovative since it regards sentimentalism in terms of journalism, the materials of well-known contemporary literary journals, and the religious and philosophical movement of Freemasonry. Nazaretskaya’s research is also of interest to us since it gives a unique interpretation of the works of M.M. Kheraskov and the poets of his school, which significantly influenced the formation of sentimentalism.
