Abstract

Numerical simulation is used to refine the parameters of macroscopic capture cross section (S) for water-saturated calcite, dolomite and quartz rock with various porosities. Simulation of neutron movement in porous medium is carried out using the Monte-Carlo method. The reduction of thermal neutrons with time is calculated. The obtained values of macroscopic capture cross section are compared with data published in different souses.
