Abstract

The results of treatment of 310 patients with locally distributed cancer of oral mucosa being observed in Astrakhan regional oncological dispensary have been analyzed. All the patients were divided into 2 groups: the first group (158 patients) was not consulted by a dentist; the second group included 152 patients who were seen by a dentist. A special commission including radiologist and chemotherapist developed a plan of accompanying therapy. Results: Planned dental aid and measures directed at the prevention of complications against the background of combined and complex therapy of locally distributed cancer of oral mucosa allows to decrease the number of hemorrhagic complications to 4.6%, local inflammatory processes – to 2.6% as well as other complications. Conclusions: Planning of accompanying dental therapy and organization of adequate curable and rehabilitation measures significantly improves life quality of patients with locally distributed cancer of oral cavity mucus, reduces the number of inflammatory and hemorrhagic complications during combined and complex treatment of these patients.
