Abstract

The article analyzes the current state of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). The author focuses on some indications that the Party might be in the midst of a crisis, such as the falling support by the society and worse election results, aging and shrinking of the party, dissolution of its electoral core. Special attention is given to the causes of the crisis and the prospects of further transformation of the German party system and the SPD place in it.
