Abstract

Three approaches are compared for the estimation of the bending and torsional stiffnesses of the wire structures. Two of them are used still in engineering practice. The third approach is based on the representation of the layered wire structure in the form of a coaxial system of anisotropic cylindrical shells interacted by forces ofpressure and friction. Based on this approach, the formulas were obtained for determining the rigidity and flexibility matrices. The formulas for calculation of bending and torsional stiffnesses of the conductors and cables were also obtained with regard to their internal structure and interaction of wire layers each other.
