Abstract

For the first time in the art criticism of Tatarstan the whole range of types and motives of the décor in the Tatar hand-written books of the XVII – early XX century has been studied and presented by the author. Evolution in the ornamental décor of the ancient Tatar manuscripts is analyzed on specific examples.
