Abstract

This article reports the data concerning prevalence and incidence of mental disorders (including substance abuse) in the population of a rural area in the north of the Tomsk region. The data are based on official statistics in the period 2001-2010. During recent ten years, the incidence of non-psychotic mental disorders in children and adolescents has increased 8 times and the incidence of mental retardation has increased 4 times. The incidence of female alcoholism has grown by 24.3%. Obviously, the measures of primary prevention of substance abuse disorder and, specifically, alcohol addiction, has not proven effective enough.
