Abstract

The article suggests the analysis of ideological and artistic functions of motives and images of Bashkir historical legends reflected in the Russian literature of the 20th century. The role of non-tale prose is exposed on the background of Peasant uprising guided by E. Pugatchev and the national hero of Bashkir people S. Yulaev, as well as stories of noble fugitives, involved in creating the plot and composition structure of the works by S. Zlobin, E. Fedorov, N. Zadornov, V. Sorokin. There have also been revealed some principles and characteristic features of the national folklore sources usage by the Russian authors.
