Abstract

The article deals with statistic analysis of seasonal prevalence of coal mining and dynamics of price indicators in coal industry in Russia. As a result of studying selected time series trend availability in series was analyzed, trend significance was assessed and an assumption about the existence of seasonal prevalence in the given indicators was put forward. On the basis of the assumption about trend availability in series and seasonal component of the trend models providing the most accurate description of time series behavior were calculated. The adequacy of the models was assessed by calculating indicators factors depicted in the present research. Within the frames of selected models with the best criteria smoothed values of series were calculated and average factors of seasonal prevalence were identified. Basis on research findings long-term forecast of time series values for 2012 was developed with due regard to application of seasonal fluctuations characterized by calculated factors of seasonal prevalence.
