The present article is devoted to the life and activities in Grodno (1893-1897) of the well-known doctor and linguist L.M. Zamengof. On the basis of the new data the time period when he was improving the language of Esperanto created by him and was participating in public life of Grodno while working as an oculist has been described. L.M. Zamengof was recognized by the city residents, and one of the streets in Grodno received his name.

Данная статья посвящена жизни и деятельности в Гродно (1893-1897) известного врача и лингвиста Л.М. Заменгофа. На основании новых данных показано, как он, работая окулистом, совершенствовал изобретенный им язык эсперанто, участвовал в общественной жизни города. Заслужил признание жителей, его именем названа улица.
