Abstract

The article reveals the essence of the contradictions in the Austrian-Russian relations, which will lead to confrontation between the two empires in the Crimean war, but that existed long before the war started. The main attention of the author focuses on the critical analysis of lost track of the Russian political elite, who did not want to notice these contradictions and political realities, which became the cause of the charges in Austria «ingratitude and hypocrisy» was the basis of hostility between the two empires until the First World War.
