Abstract

In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of the mining and coal industry workers’ diseases caused by their working conditions. They are mainly the diseases of blood circulation system, respiratory organs and digestion. An important feature is the increase in the number of "parallel to the current" chronic diseases in one human, the so called poly-pathologies. We investigated their frequency the workers of the mining and coal industries have, and their relation to the occupational disease and quality of life. It is established that 92.5 % of the miners, tested for the professional pathology, were suffering from chronic non-communicable diseases. Only 61.9 % of the patients with suspected occupational disease, and 97.9 % of the patients with the diagnosis of the disease were suffering from chronic non-communicable diseases. 25 % of the miners have more than 5 “parallel” diseases. In the structure of miners’ morbidity the pathology of respiratory, digestive and musculoskeletal systems prevails. Chronic poly-pathologies lead to the early development of various forms of occupational diseases among miners (vibrating illness, radiculitis, etc.), which make the diseases worse and contribute to the deterioration of the situation in whole. All that should be taken into account at carrying out of treatment-and-rehabilitation measures.
