Abstract

The four-volume monograph by S. P. Shevyryev is analyzed in the article. For the first time the author explores the history of the ancient Russian literature, studies its eternal meanings and its cultural meaning, and affirms the idea of unity of the literature of the Ancient Period and that of the New Period. S. P. Shevyryev also emphasizes the global importance of the Russian literature.
