Abstract

The analysis of the worm gearing designs is given. Double-rim worm gear sets are studied which contain either a cylindrical worm and two half-rim worm wheels, or two cylindrical worms and a worm wheel, both diskfaces of which have toothed rims mating with respective worms, kinematically connected by gear transmission. Analytical dependencies characterizing the engagement of the Archimedean worm with teeth of the double-rimworm gear have been obtained, namely: the equations of contact lines on the worm, the engaging surface of theworm, transverse and longitudinal lines of engagement, contact lines on the engaging surface, the lateral surface of the worm wheel tooth and contact lines on this surface.
