Abstract

As a specialist in theory and practice of translation, the author of the article considers the works by emigrant poets Kalju Lepik and Karl Ristikivi indicative of his own creative work. Here he tries to detect the topic based on their biographies and works. It is generally assumed that in a strange land even a successful poet cannot be happy. As for those two poets, it is really amazing how the stages of their lives and creative development coincide. Even the superficial connection between them confirms that these are two sides of one phenomenon, which becomes much clearer in the “mirror” of the translation.
